Rachana Sharir

Rachana Sharir’ is one of the basic subjects of First year Ayurveda undergraduate program. ‘Rachana’ means ‘structure’. Classical Ayurveda treaties have an extensive description of the structure and function of the Human Body under the title ‘Sharir’ Department of Rachana Sharir deals with the study of the Structural aspect of Sharir. Department also studies recent advances at the micro and gross level of human Anatomy. The curriculum of Rachana Sharir comprises theory and practical sessions. Dissection of cadavers, demonstration of dry and wet specimens, models, the study of X-rays, use of microscopes are different ways of practical teaching. Didactic, small group teaching, open and closed-book tests, small projects, tutorials, surprise tests, presentations, seminars, horizontal and vertical teaching are various tools used for facilitating and assessment of the subject. The detailed account of the human body from Embryology to microstructures of each organ is being taught to students both in Ayurvedic and Modern ways. Special efforts are taken to impart the applied aspects of Sharir and Anatomy in clinical Practice for better service of society.
