That is, the combined form of Dravya and their properties is Dravya Guna. Here, by the word Guna, all the essence of Ras, Guna, Virya, Vipaak, Prabhav etc. are understood. In the ChikitsaChatushpad, priority has been given to the Dravyasafter Vaidya. Without medicine, the doctor looks like a warrior standing in the battlefield, who has a war in front of him but has no weapon. It is clearly mentioned in Charaka Samhita that due to the complete description of Ayushya Anayushya (beneficial and harmful for age) Dravya and their properties.
Government Ayurveda College and Hospital, Varanasi, located in the capital of all knowledge, the city of Lord Shiva, Varanasi, is propagating and disseminating the knowledge of Trisutra Ayurveda to the general public, being earlier located in the campus of Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi, Sampurnanand Government Ayurveda College & Hospital, Varanasi, even today our students get acquainted with medicinal plants in the medicinal garden located in the university. Acharya Satyadev Dubey ji, who retired from the Dravyagun Department of Kashi Hindu University, and Acharya Anil Kumar Singh ji, who is currently working in the same department. He has been a student of the same institution and many other scholars of the same institution are bringing glory to the institution in the field of Dravyaguna.
The Department of Dravyaguna, situated in the campus of Government Ayurveda College and Hospital, Varanasi, is still continuously engaged in the work of providing education and training to the Dravyaguna seekers and the graduate and post-graduate students taking admission in the institution. In addition to the teaching and training of the students, the officers and employees of the department continue to perform the tasks directed by the government administration with full devotion and dedication.

Museum-Departmental Museum have preserved wet specimens as well as dry samples for further references.

Laboratory- Departmental laboratory is well maintained with instruments required for pharmacognostic study & research purpose.

Library-Departmental library is fulfilled with herbarium sheets, reference books of Ayurveda & pharmacology.

Charts-Flex charts of herbal drugs & modern pharmacology concepts are available.

Herbal Garden- Department has well established herbal garden with several plant species marked with botanical name.

Field Visit – Department organizes field visit / tours every year for practical exploration.
